Industry 4.0
The fourth industrial revolution entails the expansion of assets with wireless connectivity and sensors. These are connected to a system which visualises the entire production and distribution process and is capable of making its own decisions. This revolutionises the way we produce and consume by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and other technological advances into core manufacturing and production systems.
The future? A water company that is industry 4.0 proof. The management of the production process of every individual machine can be controlled remotely. Our water sources and our customers’ water consumption are monitored and predicted, so that our production centres are deployed in the most optimal way. At any given moment, we know exactly where our pipe network is located, what condition it is in and where there’s a leak. We may even be able to predict where leaks are going to occur. Maintenance and replacement is done preventively based on the probability of failure, so it’s done systematically and efficiently. By communicating proactively, we keep our customers happy.
De Watergroep wants to make full use of the emergence of new technologies to help achieve her targets.
