Process water plant for Farm Frites
In 2007, De Watergroep commissioned a process water plant that annually purifies 350,000 m³ of wastewater for subsequent reuse in the business process, for the Lommel-based Farm Frites. Membrane technology allows the treated water to meet the rigorous requirements set by the food company.
In potato processing companies, the composition of the wastewater is relatively constant, making reuse a feasible scenario. In a preliminary study, De Watergroep examined the technical options and tried out various solutions in the field via pilot tests. A financial analysis confirmed the economic feasibility of the installation.
De Watergroep ensures the operation of the installation. A monitoring programme provides Farm Frites with a clear overview of its (drinking) water consumption.
